It's the first Transfer Rumours Round Up of 2016, which means the transfer window is now open!
So, here are a few players that we have been linked to all in one place for you so you don't have to search the internet for the players we're linked to but probably won't sign!
Plus, we will keep you updated throughout the transfer window and we will also keep you updated with more frequent Round Ups than usual. Lucky you.
We Desperately Need a Goalkeeper!!
That sub-heading has hit the nail on the head. We need a replacement for Tim Howard. There are a few keepers we've been linked with through the past few weeks. Jack Butland, Denys Boyko, Geronimo Rulli, Steve Mandanda, David Marshall and Diego Lopez have all been said to be targets of the blues. Personally, Jack Butland, Geronimo Rulli and Steve Mandanda are all keepers I'd prefer to have at Goodison out of all the main targets, but if I'm honest, any goalkeeper out of the few I've mentioned could do a better job than Howard. If we don't happen to sign anyone in the transfer window, Joel Robles is good enough to start every game, as he's proved throughout the Capital One Cup, taking us to the semi-finals, and giving us confidence for reaching the final after the 2-1 first-leg win against Manchester City a couple of days ago to give us the advantage going into the second-leg. Anyway, despite me giving Roberto Martinez a few options to choose from there, I doubt he'll change who is our number one for two reasons. 1, he's stubborn and 2, he'll never read this blog post anyway. Oh well.
Another Right Back?
Yes! That's right. You might think we have too many right backs. Coleman, Hibbert, Browning and Holgate, as well as Mattioni who is on loan at Doncaster Rovers, but if you think about it, we are in need for someone to step into the right back role. Coleman is confirmed to be injured for a month-or-so, Hibbert has been injured for a while, Browning is out for the rest of the season and Mattioni has also been injured whilst on his loan. So, who have we been linked to? Sam Byram from Leeds United. He is a young, right back that seems to be very good and would fit Everton when all the right back's are injured. If Byram doesn't get signed, Stones can play right back, buuuut who want's that when he's doing so well in centre back? At the end of the day, we need someone to fill the gap, and as we have a void to fill due to injury problems in the right back position, Byram seems the perfect fit.
Will Andriy Yarmolenko Ever Join the Blues?
Yarmolenko has been a target of the toffees for, I'd say, for about a year now and he has constantly been keeping Everton fans guessing if he'll ever finish a deal with the blues. Yarmolenko has always been close to signing with Everton though, as despite signing a new contract deal with Dynamo Kyiv, his agent has said he still wants a move to the Premier League, more specifically Everton. His agent and resresentatives were at Goodison the other day apparently, but I'd take it with a pinch of salt considering they've been there many times... The most recent report is that we are considering making a £21 million bid for Yarmolenko.
Who's Come in and Who's Going out?
So, despite all the rumours, we have actually signed two players. Our first signing of the window was Matty Foulds from Bury. The 17-year-old defender recently come through the Bury youth academy, signing a first team contract in 2015, but joined Everton on the 2nd January 2016, with Roberto Martinez saying the extremely young in just 2 years. Our second signing of the January transfer window was Shani Tarashaj from Grasshopper Club Zurich. The 20-year-old from Switzerland has made 8 appearances and 5 goals for Switzerland U21's and seems very promising for the future. Due to having to finish his International Duties, Tarasaj has been loaned back to his former club until the end of the season.
The players on their way out are apparently Steven Naismith, Aiden McGeady, Darren Gibson and Kevin Mirallas. Steven Naismith has been linked to a move away from Goodison Park to Norwich in an £8 million move. Aiden McGeady and Darren Gibson have been said to both go out on loan but it is unsure how true that is, and finally Kevin Mirallas has been out of the team for a while, only recently being re-added back into the starting lineup, so many have speculated that he is on his way out. It has been suspected that a move out for these players will make room for a move for Yarmolenko to the blues, but I am unsure how much truth is behind the rumours.
That's all for now to keep you satisfied, hopefully we make some of these rumours true.
Cheers for reading.
